Ben Howard, a folk artist born and bred, he's from Devon which is a small country on the south western portion of England. Howard's parents were both very musically inclined, exposing him to some of the all time great singer song writers such as Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. He's currently signed to Island Records and describes his musical style as Indie Folk, which personally is my preferred genre. Howard manages to fuse elegant, ghostly harmonies with simple guitar progressions. In songs like Old Pine Howard begins with a beautiful and long intro accompanied with high pitched vocals, that leads into very simple yet eloquent lyrics that personally transport me to a place that not many artists have the ability to accomplish. If you enjoy Iron & Wine or any artist of that sort I HIGHLY recommend Ben Howard.
